Kaimuki students from the STEM Academy participated in the annual University of Hawaii Physics Olympics. The Physics Olympics is a program where students from high schools across the state compete in five hands-on events involving the application of physics. Kaimuki students won two awards at this year’s event; one first-place award in the “Electric Circuits” event and the third-place award in the “Money Bag” event. The winning team’s members are Edward Gao, Austin Aylward, Duane Okamura, Tayler Espinda, and Dennis Tuakoi.

In a collaborative effort at Punahou High School, students from both schools used critical thinking skills to find solutions for several tasks.
